Companies are losing customers as one in ten customers move every year
Moving house made easier with NewAddress.ie
Wednesday 14th September 2005 - NewAddress.ie, Ireland's change of address notification service is being launched today by Michael Martin T.D., Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment. NewAddress.ie will now enable house movers to notify companies of their change of address in three easy steps - and free of charge!
Research reveals that over 11% of the population move home every year, that is over 440,000 people moving. This means that for companies more than one in ten customers in their database will move.
NewAddress.ie will be a significant asset for home movers and companies with consumer databases alike. It eliminates the stress and time factor of advising up to 40 companies of a change of address. Now, banks, telcos, insurance companies and many more can be updated of a movers change of address from NewAddress.ie's on-line service Companies that subscribe to the service will cut costs (up to 65% on processing costs), deliver better customer service, enjoy improved customer retention and eliminate returned bills and direct mail.
Organisations managing the highest number of change-of-address transactions include banks, mobile phone operators, loyalty card providers, utilities and Government bodies such as the Revenue Commissioners, Passport and Drivers Licence agencies.
Derek Quinn, Managing Director of NewAddress.ie, said the current costs of managing customer's changes of addresses are prohibitive: "For most organisations, the average cost of processing a customer change of address is in the region of €5. However, it can be much higher across some sectors, most notably banks, where the cost is €20 as a postal mandate is required. In total Irish organisations spend in excess of €42m on processing change of address requests ," he explained.
NewAddress.ie has already signed a number of Ireland's best known organisations as Partners and have been appointed as an official reseller of the An Post redirection service. With a marketing value spend of over €600,000 the company is extremely confident of success, with research showing that 76% of consumers will readily use the service.
ESB Customer Supply is the Primary Sponsor of the new on-line service. An additional 40 service providers have signed partner agreements and the company is aiming to have the majority of Ireland's leading brands with consumer databases on board over the next 12 months.
