If you are moving house you should take the following actions at
least 7 days prior to vacating the premises. As soon as you return
your Signature Pack (which we post out to you with a free post envelope),
we send your request to Bord Gáis Energy Supply.
Close your account at your old address:
- Provide your name and your new address
- Submit a final meter reading (this should be agreed with the incoming
occupant). You will remain liable for gas used at your old address until
you provide a final meter reading.
- Contact details for the incoming occupant if they wish for the gas to
remain on. If this information is not provided we will arrange for the meter
to be locked (access to the meter will be required) and the new owner will be
required to call Bord Gáis Energy Supply to unlock your meter. There will be a
charge to the new owner for this call out and it may also take some time to
facilitate this request. Thus it is preferable to avoid this by providing the
contact details of the incoming occupant.
If you are moving into a house with Natural Gas you must :
Open your account at your new address:
- Provide your name and your new address
- Submit your opening meter reading (this reading at which you are taking over the natural gas supply).
If your meter is locked, please call 1850 632 632 and Bord Gáis Energy Supply will make an
appointment with you to unlock your meter. You will be charged a
connection fee of €115, this will be applied to your first bill.
- Your old address
- Your old account number (see your latest natural gas bill)
If Your Moving Date Is Cancelled Or Postponed
You should let MyAddress.ie know as soon as there is any change in your
moving date. It is also very important that you let Bord Gais Energy Supply
know on 1850 632 632, or your gas meter could be locked.
Security Requirements - Tenants
If you are renting the premises Bord Gais Energy Supply require you to
provide security by one of the following options:
- sign-up to Bill-Pay Direct Debit
- Pay a €400.00 security deposit
You can pay your security deposit and/or sign up to Bill-Pay Direct Debit
by simply telephoning 1850-632-632 between 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
or between 9.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday. If you wish to avail of Bill-Pay Direct
please ensure you have your bank account number and sort code available.
